Dear Friends of Granite Point Resort:

Some of you may recall reading the letter we sent out in 2020 when a new generation of the Biddle family took the helm at Granite Point Resort.  In that letter, entitled “The Next 100 Years,” we described our vision for preserving and enhancing the magical place we all know as Granite Point.  Over the past few years, we have been making improvements, operationally and materially, in furtherance of that vision.  This fall, we will embark on one of the most significant and noticeable undertaking in our efforts to embrace our rich history and elevate the experience and level of service we provide to our guests.

After more than three years of planning and permitting, commencing right after Labor Day weekend 2023, we will begin the renovation of the most iconic structure on Loon Lake—one that has been, and will remain, the heart and soul of our family Resort for over 100 years—the Granite Point Store.

We have done our best to respect and embody the historical spirit and look of the Store, while updating its aging infrastructure and creating exciting new amenities for our guests to enjoy.

Highlights of “Store” renovation include:
•    New infrastructure, roof, foundation, and mechanical systems.
•    Flexible space for parties, events or gatherings
•    Walk-in service layout providing for easier check-in, new retail space, and broader selections for groceries, snacks, merchandise, and sundries
•    A new grab-and-go food station
•    Commercial kitchen that will enable expanded restaurant service
•    A full-service lakeside bar (full implementation 2025)
•    New lakeside deck with expansive westward views
•    ADA-accessible structure, including two ADA-accessible restrooms

In conjunction with the building renovation, we intend to “reclaim” the main road and parking areas that run through the heart of the Resort—converting those areas into landscaped, pedestrian-only open space that will provide new recreational and relaxation opportunities for our guests, in the heart of the Resort.  When complete, the area in front of the store that historically has been used for ingress and parking, will become a vibrant pedestrian-friendly area filled with outdoor seating and opportunities for recreation and relaxation.  Vehicular access to Cottages and Seasonal Mobiles will be via the frontage road by the playground (checking in with a key card at the new gatehouse).  Day and Season Pass Parking will be in the vicinity of the Shop and Granite Point Lane, with new overflow parking created near the Lakeview and Garden areas.

What To Expect

Our goal is to have as little disruption to our normal business operations as possible. However, with a project of this size, there will be a few inconveniences and changes as we start up our 2024 season.

The Resort will reopen for Seasonal, Cottage and Days Guests on April 27, 2024, as normal; however, the “Store” and associated merchandise, sundries, snacks, and food and beverage options will resume when the Store reopens on July 1.   We will be blocking off the area immediately around the Store, with access being via the frontage road near the playground, after checking in at the gatehouse.  Apart from the closure of the store and the rerouted access, there should be no impact on your enjoyment of the Resort.

For our cottage guests, we will continue to have certain items available for purchase (smores makings, soda and beer, logo wear, and souvenirs at the Interim Guest Services Cottage.

We encourage you to follow us on Facebook and Instagram through the off-season – and keep up with the progress of this significant undertaking. We hope that any minor inconvenience will be more than offset by the time, energy, and love we are investing in this magical place that has served generations of guests for over 100 years.
